Reviewer

Articles submitted for publication in Mentalis will be evaluated by two specialists in the scientific field of the study, both with extensive experience in mental health or related areas.

The submission and review process of manuscripts follows these steps:

  1. Submission and Preliminary Analysis: Manuscripts are received by the journal's editor and undergo an initial review. After this stage, they are sent to two reviewers, following a double-blind peer review system, where both the authors' and reviewers' identities remain confidential.
  2. Reviewer Evaluation: Reviewers are responsible for assessing the quality and relevance of manuscripts in relation to the objectives and scope of Mentalis. They must suggest adjustments and revisions to improve the quality of the submitted work.
  3. Opinion Divergence: If the two reviewers do not reach a consensus on the evaluation of a manuscript, the editor may decide on the publication or request the opinion of a third reviewer.
  4. Evaluation Report: Each reviewer must carefully analyze the manuscript and provide a justified and well-founded opinion on the suitability of the work for publication in Mentalis. The evaluation criteria include:
    • Relevance and significance of the topic to the field of mental health;
    • Quality and currency of the scientific literature review;
    • Alignment of the methods used with the study's objectives;
    • Clarity of writing and organization of the article, in compliance with ABNT standards;
    • Validity of the results concerning the objectives and methods adopted;
    • Depth and coherence in the discussion of the results;
    • Formal correctness of references, formulas, and tables, following ABNT standards.

Editorial Decision: Authors will be informed of the editorial decision within approximately three months, which may be:

  • Accepted: The manuscript is accepted for publication in its current form.
  • Accepted with minor revisions: The manuscript will be accepted after minor modifications requested by the reviewers.
  • Revisions required: The manuscript shows potential but requires substantial revisions. Authors will be invited to revise the article according to the reviewers' suggestions and resubmit it for further evaluation.
  • Rejected: The manuscript was deemed unsuitable for publication as it does not meet the journal's criteria.

This process aims to ensure the quality and scientific relevance of articles published in Mentalis, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of mental health.
